Here is my lovely white 944 S for sale. It has done 135,000 miles.

Bodywork is in excellent condition, no dents or scratches at all.

Very retro cool burgundy Porsche Logo interior also in very good condition.

Fantastic service history with stacks of reciepts including a complete engine rebuild by a previous owner.

Recently had brand new battery, washer pump, door seals, engine oil, K&N panel filter, fuel filter, had injectors refurbed and flow tested, and upgraded ecu eprom for better throttle response and drivability.
The car drives and pulls very well.

MOT and Tax until the end of August.

Has been garaged all winter.

Very cheap to insure on classic insurance.

Also will come with a set of 16" 928 wheels aswell as the teledials pictured plus the white centre caps which are missing in the pictures.

All electrics work as they should.

Only real bad point is that the engines struggles to hold a steady idle on cold starts. However, give it 30 seconds to warm up a little and it's sweet as a nut. I believe this is because the cold start valve located underneath the inlet manifold needs replacing. An inexpensive fix that just requires a bit of time.

All in all this is a lovely and well looked after car, with a fantastic revvy 16 valve engine.

Those health nuts are on to something. Lighter and more trim is better where agility, energy efficiency and athleticism are concerned - and it's much the same in the automotive world.

The 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder is a lightweight and fast sports car.

But in the same way a standard human can't realistically slash the carb-caked pretzels, pizza and pasta entirely from their diet, a standard car can't realistically slash features like its air conditioning, cruise control and stereo system.

But the Porsche Boxster Spyder is no standard car. In an un-salted nutshell, this particular Boxster model is an engineering exercise in high-performance lightweight construction. It effectively puts the standard Boxter, svelte as it was, on a diet that makes it the lightest Porsche currently available.

Aluminum doors, lightweight wheels, and a revised rear cover all trim weight, making the Boxster Spyder faster and less thirsty. Engineers even installed a smaller fuel tank, shrank the front fog lights, fitted a special lightweight battery and yanked the speed-deployable spoiler from the standard car in favour of a fixed unit.

Inside, door handles are replaced by fabric tug straps, storage cubbies are all but deleted and the standard equipment list doesn't even include a radio, cupholders or air conditioning.

Even the one-piece, one-way-adjustable racing bucket seats are made of carbon-fibre. These are comfortable and sportily snug once settled into, and they're also the biggest clue that drivers are about to turn the key on something very, very serious once they finagle their way into to the cockpit.

Finagle?

Yes.

Like a race-car, there's no graceful way into or out of the Boxster Spyder. There's also limited at-hand storage for your stuff, limited rearward visibility, a rough ride, and plenty of road and wind noise.

Part of that wind noise comes from the Spyder's unique, lightweight roof.

The heavy motorized unit has been replaced with a primitive soft top that's erected and removed via a special dance involving tabs, clips, latches and careful folding. It's like setting up a tent.

Drivers need to be careful not to scrape the rear of the car with the various bits of hardware and cables that may dangle from the top in the process. This roof isn't quiet or air tight, and one could even slip their hand into the car between the roof and window with a bit of effort. It does keep heat nicely within the cabin though, even in sub-zero temperatures.

In all, working and living with this new lightweight roof may be a bit of a pain, but top-down cruising in a car like this does provide plenty of redemption. That's especially true when firing its exotic, wailing exhaust note off of nearby buildings, tunnel walls and motorists.

A hand-built 3.4 litre flat six engine is mounted down low just behind the passenger compartment. The engine is only accessible from underneath so it can't be seen-- but boy oh boy, can you ever hear it.

With the optional performance exhaust kit put in its 'loud' setting, drivers, their lucky passenger and everyone within about a half a mile can clearly hear the engine's every breath. Each touch of the throttle is met with an aggressive increase in exhaust volume and forward momentum, and downshifting to pass is strictly optional.

Shifted fast and hard, Boxster Spyder leaps into the next gear, especially with the optional short-throw shifter fitted. Drivers will likely find excuses to swap cogs as often as possible, even if the engine will happily pull things along from under 2000 RPM.

Opened up, the high-strung mill flings the Spyder's body down the road and out of corners with tremendous urgency, and thrust piles on heavily towards the 7,500 RPM redline.

This engine performs best when its spinning fast, and sound effects will likely play in the heads of drivers while they try to sleep.

Add in the stiff clutch and a lightning-quick, road-reading steering system, and you've got a drop-top that really and truly sucks its pilot into the experience of performance motoring. Of course, the lowered suspension, stiffened springs and widened track kick up the Boxster's already-exceptional handling even further. You work to drive this car fast, but its endlessly rewarding.

Despite the performance, it gets very good highway cruising mileage, too. With both a trunk and a 'frunk', there's even plenty of space for two people's worth of luggage.

Still, and obviously, this isn't a car for everyone.

Boxster Spyder is cramped, rough, noisy and short on interior space. But for those after a world-class, top-down driving experience unparalleled in hardcore factor and simplicity, it makes plenty of sense. As a performance car that puts on a show for its driver, the Boxster Spyder absolutely hits the nail on the head.

As an exclusive, no-B.S. performance weapon, it's a one-of-a-kind machine.

Gabriel Gelinas, National Post · Wednesday, Mar. 9, 2011

Palma de Majorca, Spain • With the new Cayman R, which will be available in Canada as of April as a 2012 model, Porsche has borrowed just about every page from its Boxster Spyder playbook to create the lightest and fastest Cayman ever.

The power-to-weight ratio is the be all and end all of automotive performance, so making the car lighter while giving it more power will significantly improve its dynamics. This is precisely what the engineers at Porsche have done with the Cayman R, which is 55 kilograms lighter than the Cayman S. And its engine develops 10 more horsepower for a total output of 330 hp. The Cayman R’s chassis is 20 millimetres lower and its centre of gravity is 22 mm lower than the Cayman S’s as well. The numbers might not read like much, but, believe me, this new car raises the bar significantly in terms of performance.

Here at the RennArena race track, the Cayman R proved to be totally at ease, thanks to its perfectly weighted and exceptionally communicative steering. With the optional ceramic brakes, the braking action was stellar, with immediate response and very good pedal feel, while the standard locking rear differential made for quick corner exits. The Cayman R is available with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, which delighted thanks to the very precise, short-shift lever throws. But Porsche’s latest track day weapon can also be had with the seven-speed double-clutch PDK gearbox, which now features proper steering wheel paddles that are set up exactly like those on its competitors — upshifts selected via the right paddle and downshifts via the left. Porsche has finally seen the light and ditched the previous arrangement consisting of awkward and counter-intuitive steering wheel buttons. Acceleration times are quicker with the PDK gearbox, but the Cayman R is more satisfying to drive with the manual transmission.

Aside from a few laps of the race track, most of my time with the Cayman R was spent driving on the extremely slippery, wet roads of Palma, which compared with snowy or even icy roads in Canada. Under these conditions, the car’s electronic aids proved to be very useful, especially given the fact that it comes standard with a locking rear differential and high-performance tires. The electronic stability control was therefore very busy on the drive up mountainside switchbacks — not only when power was applied but also during the turn-in phase to help overcome the prevalent understeer. Applying power at mid-corner, with the locking rear differential sending power to both rear wheels, had the electronic stability control working to effectively control acceleration. Under these treacherous conditions, the challenge was to drive just fast enough to remain below the threshold where the electronic stability control kicks in. This was easier said than done given the peculiar pavement I was driving on, but I was secure in the knowledge that the electronics were constantly on the alert should the need arise.

With its standard fixed rear wing and more pronounced front spoiler, the Cayman R certainly looks the part and can easily be differentiated from a run-of-the-mill Cayman or Cayman S. Inside, the extreme weight-saving measures mean the car does not have regular door handles but red cloth pullers. It is also devoid of an air conditioning system (which can be added as a $2,010 option) or even a radio (a basic unit can be added as a no-cost option). The standard one-piece sport bucket seats are very form-fitting and can only be adjusted fore and aft. Wider, more adjustable seats are available from the options list. The Cayman R’s colour palette includes the traditional “unstealthy-in-the-left-lane Guards Red” and “arrest-me Speed Yellow” as well as all the other standard colours, but it now adds a retina-searing “throw-me-in-jail Peridot Green,” which will no doubt appeal to the most extroverted.

Although Porsche has made significant progress of late to improve the ride of its sports cars by carefully tuning suspensions to reduce impact harshness, it remains to be seen how well the Cayman R will comply with our less-than-perfect Canadian roads. In order to thoroughly enjoy this latest track day weapon as a daily driver, you will have to consider the Cayman R as you would a high-end sportsbike. In other words, you will need to accept that it’s relatively Spartan from a comfort level to appreciate its thrilling performance. But if you are truly committed to this kind of relationship, driving the $75,600 Cayman R just may be one of the best experiences you’ll ever have.

porsche 911 turbo

Those into tuning are for sure familiar with Sported SPR packages for Porsche 911. This is the latest iteration called the SPR1 FL based on the 2011 911 Turbo and it offers 858 hp!

This offers the same sort of power as their other tuned Porsche revealed at Geneva Motor Show based on the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. At 858 hp and 880 Nm of torque this missile can accelerate form 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds flat and can reach a top speed of 380 km/h. That insane performance really overshadows the Sportec GT2 RS and make it look kinda pointless.

To get this power out of 911′s rather small 3.6 liter Flat-Six engine, Sportec has implemented deep modifications like high flow intakes and injectors which are doubled for each cylinder, plus titanium connecting rods, monster intercoolers, and high performance active exhaust system.

The Sportec FL1 also benefits from some visual tweaks such as revised bumpers and buffed up fenders to accommodate big wheels and tires.
