Volkswagen Automotive Future World Ruler

Volkswagen Automotive Future World Ruler

While the new targeting to become the ruler of the world automotive industry in the coming year 2019, Volkswagen was able to beat this year was the Toyota.

But it was not in terms of car sales, but in terms of number of cars produced this year.

Germany as a manufacturer is scored as many car production 4.4 million units during the 9 months. The number is far higher than the ruler of the automobile industry the world today, Toyota's only managed to produce a car as many as 4 million units.

Increased production of this significant is the effect of suspected government programs that provide subsidies for people who want to swap their old cars with new cars more efficient.

Similar cash program for the U.S. government clunker. But for these matters, Germany is a Forerunner for having started the program since 2008 ago.

The program has proved successful to put the German automotive industry to increase 26.1 percent. VW already ambitious for this level up not to waste the opportunity.

Because thanks to these subsidies, sales of VW can jump to 34 percent with total sales reaching 622.853 units. Skoda Fabia brand and is the most developed brand because its sales Jumped to 92.4 percent while Octavia rose 20.4 percent.

The success of VW became the manufacturer with the world's largest production also followed by a successful Ford beat GM production Effort won the third-largest position in the automotive world.

Ford has been producing cars reported as many as 3.7 million units in the first nine months of 2009. Slightly above GW which has produced 3.6 million units of cars.

2011 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid - Short Take Road Test

After a quick, horrified look at the pricing sheet, you might assume that Volkswagen wants to keep buyers away from its Touareg hybrid and steer them into a Touareg TDI. The hybrid’s base price is $12,615 higher than that of  VW’s crusading, hyper-efficient diesel and just $7290 short of a Porsche Cayenne S hybrid’s. But spend any amount of time in this resculpted mega-Dub with the dual-source powertrain, and you’re left marveling at how VW  has managed to integrate so much technology—the cause of many a Veyron-like moment of stupefaction—into something that costs just $61,385.

Because what the Touareg hybrid does is make good on the much-hyped but never-before-delivered promise of the performance hybrid, the ol’ “V-8 power with V-6 efficiency!” canard. Unlike the Lexus and BMW leprechauns struggling to simultaneously maximize mpg and acceleration, the VW’s achievements can be summed up concisely: 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds and an EPA combined fuel-economy rating of 21 mpg (only 1 mpg less than the Touareg TDI’s).

Traction-Control Override a Possibility for 2012 VW GTI and Golf R

The sportiest Volkswagen models available in Europe for 2012 — the GTI, the Golf R and the Scirocco — will come standard with a new electronic stability system that can be fully disabled.

According to Corey Proffitt, a Volkswagen North America spokesman, VW is considering offering a similar setup for the 2012 GTI for sale in the United States, which arrives this summer, and the 2013 Golf R, due late this year or early in 2012.

VW GTI’s in the United States have, for many years, allowed their ESP to be switched off by the driver at the touch of a button, but this merely raises the threshold of electronic interaction; it is not a master switch.

Some kind of stability control system is federally required on all automobiles starting in 2012, but most automobiles on sale in the United States are already so equipped. A few, however, including models from Cadillac and BMW, allow their systems to be totally shut down by the driver.

The electronic stability program in Volkswagens, as with those systems in many other brands’ vehicles, is designed to be invisible most of the time and only active when it detects that a vehicle’s stability is upset, either by skidding or loss of steering control. In these instances, most systems automatically apply braking to individual wheels to correct the perceived problem.

But for performance applications, track events, auto cross and the like, a disabled ESP allows the driver to slide the car and attack corners more aggressively.

In the European Volkswagens, the revised ESP system works as a dual-stage protector, controlling traction and braking. In this so-called double point function, a single press of the ESP button disables the traction control, while holding it in for more than three seconds will fully disable traction control and electronic braking systems. Meanwhile, stomping on the brake pedal will reactivate ESP.

The shutoff works similarly in all current BMW models, in which the safety systems are called DTC, for Dynamic Traction Control. The cars reset to full “on” mode when they are restarted, said Dave Buchko, a BMW spokesman, in a telephone interview.

While some enthusiasts have railed at car companies that forbid the full shutoff of a traction-control system, many drivers lack the ability to prevent an accident in a dicey situation. As Steve Sutcliffe, a columnist for Autocar, the British automotive Web site, wrote, “None of us is as tasty behind the wheel as we’d secretly like to believe. When push comes to shove and you lose control of your car at anything above 40 m.p.h., chances are you’re going to have some sort of a prang.”

volkswagen rabbit

It may be the Year Of The Rabbit, but don't expect its auto offerings to be cutesy little things

THIS weekend, we're going to talk about all things rabbit when it comes to cars.

Take Volkswagen. It has offered an extra hop with the specially-named, limited-edition Golf Rabbit - a special edition of its popular Golf hatchback.

It's fitting, as until recently, the Volkswagen Golf model was always traditionally known in the United States as the Volkswagen Rabbit.

The special edition features a classic "Rabbit" badge, designed by David Epstein; different 16-inch alloy wheels; and a keyless entry system that features a start-stop button.

The car is otherwise mechanically identical to the Golf 1.4, which has 122bhp, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox along with a 0-100 time of 9.5 seconds and maximum speed of 200kmh. Fifty units of this limited edition will be on sale at $111,800 with COE.

Audi A6 3.0

Then, there's Audi with its new A6 3.0. This is the car that is expected to leap over its competition this year.

The luxury sedan saw its first-generation in 1994 - interestingly, the Year Of The Dog. Equally interesting, the general almanac forecast for Dogs in the Rabbit Year is good.

But the A6 needs no mystical mumbo jumbo to be a front-runner, thanks to the powerhouse combination of an involving drive, a superb interior and numerous safety and technology improvements.

Making this possible is a newly developed chassis and body, which Audi claims weighs up to 80kg less than before, thanks to parts like the bonnet and doors being made of aluminium. It helps maintain levity despite packing the Audi's signature quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Driving the A6 in a regular fashion is rewarding as the handling is pleasingly responsive and neatly masks the car's near five-metre bulk. When we test drove the vehicle in Sicily, we found that the conventional sports suspension (an air option is available) lets the A6 easily deal with Sicily's tricky, wet mountain roads.

Audi's new AWD system shunts torque to the rear wheels quicker, but having power sent to all four wheels also means the A6 can safely hustle with the best of them.

The drivetrain is the familiar, potent combination of 3.0 supercharged V6 and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (like the S4 sedan). And though it only has 290bhp, it is smoother and endows the A6 with impossibly long legs.

It's also packed with every manner of tech wizardry and safety improvements - it can help you save fuel, keep your lane, watch out for crazed overtakers, follow the car in front of you, and adjust its lights so it doesn't blind others. Its best trick, though, is turning into a 3G mobile Wi-Fi hotspot on demand.

The cabin is a delight, as it resembles the luxurious A8's cabin, and appropriates its new touch-based multimedia interface too. In light of all the talents waiting to be found beneath the skin, it's high time this Dog had its year.

Ups

- Polished handling, ride and pace

- Packed to the brim with technology

- Powerful and responsive drivetrain

2011 Volkswagen CC: A Luxury Car for the People

Will North Americans accept a luxury saloon from VW? The automaker means to find out.
Initial Thoughts
While precious few of them ever left Canadian showrooms, the VW Phaeton remains one of the finest cars not just made by Volkswagen, but by anyone. Much like 1980s era Benzes, built like tanks, with attention paid to making every last detail as good as it could possibly be, the original Phaeton was a masterpiece of engineering. Available with a monstrous six-litre W-12 engine, and riding as well as any S-Class or A8 (with which it shared a platform) the Phaeton should have been a hit. And if not for the two letters on the hood, it might well have been. Instead, the Phaeton faltered, and was eventually pulled from North America entirely. Apparently, we just weren't ready for a luxury car from the maker of the Beetle. Those crafty engineers at Wolfsburg don't give up easily, however, and the Passat CC (or simply "CC" as it's known for 2011) is an admirable attempt to poach customers from BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, while expanding upon VW's already massive global popularity. With sleek sheetmetal, a sprightly four-cylinder and a truly luxurious interior, the new CC appears to have everything an A4 or 3-Series does. Except of course a luxury badge. Which could be a problem.

Performance
The new CC is available with a choice of two engines, the first a turbocharged four-cylinder making a respectable 200-hp and 207 lb-ft of torque and the second, a V6, producing 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder is available in either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch DSG automatic, while the V6 is only available with a six-speed Tiptronic auto. The smaller engine is plenty powerful, and might completely steal the thunder of the V6 were it not for the 4Motion AWD system, which is only available in the V6 powertrain. Snowy weather notwithstanding, the four-cylinder CC rides and drives wonderfully, with a typical German tautness to its handling and a smooth, firm ride.

Ergonomics/Comfort/Quality
The name CC stands for "Comfort Coupe", which puts this vehicle in the odd (and newly coined) class of "four-door coupes." In this case, it means that the CC has a nifty 2+2 seating plan, with a rear console instead of a middle seat. Since many people rarely use that seat anyway, it makes sense to sacrifice it in the name of a little coupe-like style, but for some this may end up being an issue. The seats themselves are beautiful, comfortable and available in striking two-tone leather. The steering wheel is a sporty-looking three-spoke and the automatic shifter is one of the nicest we've encountered. Overall, the interior is understated and stylish, the automotive equivalent to Scandinavian modern furniture.

Functionality/Usability
Apart from the rear seat issue, the CC remains a practical, functional four-door sedan (or four-door coupe, if you believe in such things) and its four-cylinder engine will certainly appeal to those concerned with fuel economy. Pricing wise, it sits above the Passat at $33,375 for the Sportline, and a lofty $46,375 for the Highline V6 with AWD. To put that price in perspective, it's the same as a BMW 328ix Coupe, and three grand and change more than an Audi A4 Quattro. And when you look at it that way, it becomes a much more complicated proposition.

Conclusion
Volkswagen has one of the best brand reputations out there among the young, hip and upwardly mobile. Only problem is, once those creatives move from entry-level to executive, they tend to upgrade their vehicles from the humble, friendly VW to something more in Audi and BMW territory. The CC is a fine car, no question about it, but if for luxury money, most people want a luxury brand.

MUMBAI: European car-maker, Volkswagen, on Wednesday said it will launch the all new edition of Passat in India with BlueMotion technologies by March this year.

"We will launch the all new edition of Passat in the Indian market by March 2011. It will be launched at the same time as the 'Think Blue' campaign is introduced in the country," Volkswagen Group Sales India's Director, Neeraj Garg, told reporters here.

Volkswagen intends to adopt 'Think Blue' as a consistent approach that will be reflected in the brand's actions and communication.

"Building on one of the best-known environmental labels in the automobile industry, 'BlueMotion', Volkswagen is sending out a new signal for sustainable mobility," he said.

Drug defendant gets 5 to 10 years, loses Jetta

Darrell Butler will spend five to 10 years in state prison and must surrender his Volkswagen Jetta from which he sold crack cocaine, a judge ruled Tuesday.

An undercover officer purchased crack cocaine for $250 from Butler inside the vehicle so the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office filed to seize the car.

The district attorney's office will transfer the car to the Edwardsville police. Butler, meanwhile, will also make restitution to state police for $105 and the state Attorney General's Office for $250 as part of the sentence that Luzerne County Judge Hugh Mundy imposed Tuesday.

2011 Scirocco R-Cup calendar announced

After its successful inaugural season, the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup returns in 2011 with an attractive calendar.

Both season opener and the finale will again be held at Hockenheim, and new to the 2011 calendar is the Red-Bull-Ring at Spielberg, Austria, which complements the time-tested venues of the Scirocco R-Cup. Between April and October, there will be rounds across Germany at the EuroSpeedway, the Norisring, the Nürburgring and Oschersleben, as well as a return to Brands Hatch in the UK.

The paddock will include both male and female racers from eight different countries and, once again, motorsport legends and celebrities will complete the grid as guest entrants at each round.

The spectacular, eco-friendly Volkswagen one-make cup reduces CO2 emissions by 80 per cent with the cars fuelled by bio natural gas. The 2011 season will again support the German DTM calendar, encompassing eight out of the 10 German touring car championship events.

As a DTM partner series, the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup will continue to perform on a grand stage. Letting fans come close to the action and delivering thrilling races are aims which the top touring car class and the world’s most eco-conscious one-make cup have in common. 2010 saw an average of 86,000 spectators flock to the jointly held races.

The grid of the identical coupés guarantees absolute equality of opportunities to all entrants. A push-to-pass system offers a limited number of 50 PS power boosts at the driver’s fingertips, to guarantee captivating races, while the direct comparison between the young drivers, seasoned campaigners and legends of motorsport in the same race adds to the suspense.

The Scirocco R-Cup will return to Brands Hatch over the weekend 2-4 September 2011.
