What it is?

Maruti Suzuki India, country's largest car manufacturer, launched their first luxury sedan earlier last month. Though every second car sold in India is a Maruti Suzuki car, they did not have any cars in the luxury segment. As the market for such cars was growing, Maruti Suzuki launched the Kizashi sedan in order to tap on the growing market. First launched as a concept car that made its first public appearance at the 2007 Motor Show in Frankfurt.
Outer impression:

Suzuki Kizashi is a sedan with an ornate exterior design. It flaunts both - European style and Japanese timelessness. For a driving enthusiast the low-slung front, honeycomb grille, projector jewel-like headlamps, rectangular fog lamp, body colored rear view mirrors and door handle bars make the driving experience complete. The headlamps, the tail light cluster and the bold rear parking assist indicators add functionality to beauty in this attractive body. The luxury Japanese car is a story in cabin spaciousness and dynamic character. It calls for a passion for driving and handling. With reasonable pricing and great driving performance, the Suzuki Kizashi comes in a single petrol engine and two transmission options. The 6 speed manual and Variable Transmission categories are available in Snow White Pearl, Premium Silver Metallic and Super Black Pearl.

Suzuki Kizashi has a comfy and luxurious interior. It is not only stunning to look at but also highly functional. GSX-R750 Wallpaper

The new 2011 Suzuki GSX-R 750 motorcycle is outfitted with a 750cc 4-cylinder engine with an oversquare bore/stroke ratio for efficient, high-revving output.

The GSX-R750 is equipped with a new 4-into-1 stainless-steel exhaust system featuring a titanium muffler, which carries a Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) valve. The system maximizes torque and improves throttle response, especially in the low-to-mid RPM range.

Advanced, race-developed transistorized ignition control circuit helps maintain more precise ignition timing across the range of engine temperature.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto has been the kingpin among small cars since ages now. It is quite astonishing to see that its sales figures have hardly dropped below 25K/month in the past six months. It is such a popular car in India that it became the best selling hatch in the world.

Let’s go a little bit off topic now. When the Tata Motors began selling the Nano in 2009, there was a huge hue and cry about the pressure that the infrastructure will come under when the Nano starts flooding the streets.
However, as we can now see that those arguments were just a bit too far fetched. The Nano averagely manages 5-10K units/month which is far from what we expected. Is it because the Alto is slowly and steadily throttling the Nano’s Market?

Amazingly, something very important has slipped out of the radar. It is the pace at which MSIL is selling Altos. Let’s see what the calculations lead to

The Sales figures of the Alto in the past 6 months are as follows:
• August 2010: 28,430
• September 2010: 30,147
• October 2010: 32,612
• November 2010: 32,377
• December 2010: 26,937
• January 2011: 33,118

So averagely, the company has managed 30604 units per month in the past 6 months. This means the company sold 987 units each day for the last six months. So every hour the company sold 41 units which means (conservatively speaking) the company sold 1 Alto every 2 minutes. That is simply a mind-blowing figure! Who is buying so many Altos ;)

Forget the fire controversy and delivery delays; Is this the most critical factor that is hindering Ratan Tata’s ambition? Is the market reluctant to accept the new boy (Nano) and preferring the time tested Alto?

NEW DELHI: India's largest automobile company Maruti Suzuki will supply its latest compact car A-Star to Volkswagen AG . The car, which will undergo some modifications and design changes, will be sold in India and Asian markets under a new brand, according to senior officials in the automobile industry.

The agreement to supply A-Star, Suzuki's fifth global model after Swift, Ritz, SX4 and Grand Vitara will be inked soon. Volkswagen holds 20% stake in Maruti's parent company Suzuki.

Volkswagen's decision to choose A-Star comes after two years of Maruti's success of supplying A-Star to another Japanese carmaker Nissan Motors, which re-badges the same car as Pixo for sales through its own network in Europe. A-Star sold as Alto in overseas markets is exclusively made by Maruti Suzuki at its Manesar plant in Haryana. It's a futuristic product specifically developed by parent Suzuki Motor Corp (SMC) for developed markets meeting all its stringent crash safety tests, emission norms and environment regulations.

Maruti's engineering team would work closely with VW to tweak the car as per its global market needs, said a senior official from the automobile industry. "There could be some changes in the basic design though the overall technical specs won't be altered," the official added.

When Maruti Suzuki first rolled out the SX4 sedan in India, it marked the company's entry back into the premium midsize sedan segment post the departure of the Baleno.

At the time the market was still rather petrol oriented and standing as testament to customer wants and needs was the Honda City, the undoubted king of the premium midsize sedan segment.
