BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën have created a joint venture to pool costs and seek economies of scale in parts for hybrid and electric cars.

The German and French carmakers said the venture would develop and produce hybrid components for their operations and to sell to other companies.

BMW and Peugeot said they aimed to create a standard set of the components needed to electrify their vehicle ranges, including battery packs, electric motors and generators,
power electronics and chargers, and the software that runs hybrid systems.
